She Comes

Melancholia shrouds me
Sitting along the French Riviera (champagne in hand)
She comes
Sitting on the balcony overlooking the Tagus River at dusk (sipping ginger tea)
She comes
I have traced Japan from Tokyo to Kyoto to Osaka
Even there
She came like those towering clouds before a thunderstorm -
as if preparing for burial rites
And I sit (for sit is all I can do)
How far can I run?
She comes
Always
So, I sit and let her
I watch from the outside looking in
And I see how lovingly she prepares her shroud and covers me
For my burial
Melancholia shrouds me
sigh
Cover me in your grace
